SIEMENS PLM SOLUTION PARTNER - SACIT ESTABLISHED AN INTERFACE BETWEEN EQUIST WELD AND SOLID EDGE

EQUIST WELD - Intelligence in Steel eliminates the need to enter one by one the chemical compositional data, mechanical and physical properties while working with Solid Edge. An interface has been developed between EQUIST WELD and Solid Edge: EQUIST WELD for Solid Edge, an integrated database of standard steels engineering software plug-in. This integrated software eliminates the need to search for steel data in books, catalogues and type in them one by one while working with Solid Edge.  "Many Solid Edge users, who also have EQUIST have been showing interest to save time by using the integrated EQUIST” said Dr. Szilvia SOMOGYI, managing director of SACIT."

The release of the plug-in coincides with SACIT's SIEMENS PLM Solution Partner membership, which serves the Solid Edge computer-aided design (CAD) user base with access to leading software and hardware applications that offer best-in-class computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering analysis (CAD/CAM/CAE) solutions.

SACIT has been developing and distributing the EQUIST software internationally for more than 20 years. SACIT customers are mostly engineers from the machine making, the chemical and food industry, people from the maintenance, quality insurance, libraries etc.

The name of the EQUIST program is drawn from "EQUIvalent STeels" and the objective is to allow the user to identify and cross-reference international steels where the known information may be the material designation, or country of origin, Werkstoff number, national standard, composition, or a specified set of mechanical or other properties as well as weldability information, corrosion properties and the hardenability (Jominy) band. The program has been constructed from information relating to over 25.400 steels, drawn from the standards of 23 countries, ISO and EN specifications. The latest version of EQUIST also contains commercial designations and data taken from the sources of some special steel producers. Engineers will save a significant amount of time by gaining access to the steel characteristics, which are necessary for the designing process. EQUIST for Solid Edge will start shipping immediately and SACIT will also be providing customer training and annual maintenance support options.
